Emily Mitchell is a Rhode Island based singer/songwriter. She has a classic sound all her own: she writes 100% of all her lyrics and music. She has played piano since she was four, learned the flute at nine, frenchhorn and baritone horn at thirteen, and picked up the trumpet in the ninth grade. She went on to study classical piano, classical voice, and jazz voice at the college level. She has also completed the college level Music Theory and Sight-singing courses which have strengthened her unshakeable foundation of musical understanding. She often describes it as being fluent in another language - crediting her early exposure as the catalyst to her comprehension. She normally writes using her piano - but back when she was first starting to seriously write at around 15-16 years old, she added the writing medium of the guitar to open up additional inspirational direction. Her songs are about the human condition - the human experience - the frailty of the heart - the tidal wave that is love. They are mainly, while not exclusively, based upon her own love\'s journey - at once heartbreaking and beautiful - an outlet for the sorting through of her emotions and a documentation of her story.
