A singer/songwriter out of New Jersey, Eric Cooper started playing guitar when he was in junior high. He soon found himself playing cover songs in cafés and coffee shops. It wasn't until he heard the music of Nick Drake and Richard Thompson that he decided to start writing his own music. His teacher first taught Eric the various finger style methods commonly used on steel string guitars. He then moved on to classical training with a nylon string guitar, learning to play several pieces by Agustin Barrios and Heitor Villa- Lobos. After dabbling in classical music, Eric decided to turn the focus on his own songwriting. His self-titled EP features 8 songs recorded live in the studio. Each song is just Eric singing and playing his acoustic guitar to a couple of condenser microphones.
