This is the debut release by the San Francisco Bay Area's only: Evidence of the King. The band is a product of two classical musicians tired of playing weddings. Emancipated by a drummer over four years ago, we have our beginnings in a dank lair in the shadow of San Francisco's King Diner (10th and Mission), playing free improvisation to the open mic nights of San Francisco. The vision of the group has been to be ever expanding and encompass new musical ideas through the empowerment of traditional instruments. Today the group is six members strong from diverse influences and training, such as jazz, blues, world beat, free improvisation and Balinese gamalon. We have over nineteen instruments within easy grasp, including tuba, bass, vocals, violin, cello, and recorder, which are heard throughout the album. This variety creates a rich style unique to our ensemble. Planted squarely on this base of ever shifting in genres, the sound is unified with joy and intensity, while remaining readily accessible to a variety of audiences. To hear us is to know us, nothing else is satisfactory Personnel Molly Smart Vocals, flute, recorder, lyrics Amanda Crocker Vocals, lyrics, percussion Mark Schirmer vocals, lyrics, cello, bass Paul McElwee Violin, mandolin Jay Schwartz Drums, lyrics, percussion Jeremy Steinmeier Trumpet, flugelhorn, trombone, tuba, bass.
