Keep It in the Family
The Family Stump is a rediculously funny, superbly inappropriate, all-original in-character redneck country band, and it's debut CD 'Keep It In The Family' will make you cringe with delight and keep you laughin' till the cows come home. Led by Pa Stump (aka Jeff Younger, one of Canada's finest guitar players, composers and quirky, creative spirits), the family regales listeners with tales of a special kind of family love, unfortunate amputations, relationships gone wrong, prison breaks, and the most beautiful song ever written about killing your dog. If you weren't paying attention to the words, you'd probably just find yourself humming some really great country tunes as you drive to work. However, lurking in these catchy songs are lyrics with subversive twists and turns, dirty words and profoundly poetic gestures, sure to amuse, confound, disturb and touch your heart in the most humorous way. You can read along and giggle at the family portraits in the full-color, 8 panel family scrapbook, and the last 4 tracks on the disc are improvised redneck banter outtakes from the recording sessions! Did we mention cringing and laughing, or laughing and cringing, depending on your sense of humor? Live, The Family Stump is an unstoppable unpredictability, laying down some killer country music while engaging in bushels of improvised and irresponsible redneck behaviour. In the spirit of the amazing bands lead by Frank Zappa, the Stump Family (Pa, Dusty, Kitty, Chastity, Rusty and Bjornn) is full of dead serious and extremely talented musicians who share Younger's twisted and clever sense of humor, and much like Tenacious D, bravely go wherever the performance and audience takes them. Like an extra limb resultant of genetic 'sharsies', the Stump Army is growing as we speak. Spread the love and avoid the authorities!!!!!!
