BIO: Like the voices of yesterday's Blues greats, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, Muddy Waters ... Raymond James also knows the sorrows and exhilarations of life and it's experiences, which he expresses this in his writing. Raymond grew up with an ear and a desire to play music. When he was 4yrs old, he became interested in music because of the electric guitar his father had lying around the house. At 8yrs old, he learned how to play the trumpet, and played in the school band. By the time he was 12, he turned his interests to the band KISS and the antics of Gene Simmons and their guitar player Ace Frehley. It was then he traded his trumpet for an electric guitar. Next a steady gig with a cover band that played house parties, where the music was of post 80's punk; songs from The Pretenders, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Pat Benatar, and even the Go Go's. When they disbanded, he found his way into an original post-punk band. It was here that he started developing his own writing style. At that time, Raymond rediscovered the sound of early '70's' David Bowie: an isolated, and vulnerable Bowie. He connected with this 'new' sound on a very personal level and saw a musical direction. He would be completely expressive through songwriting, as well as performing. In the early 90's Raymond could be seen 'wood shedding' his new music in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside in local hospitality venues. In the years to follow, Raymond developed a knack for an accessible sound. Songs with catchy titles and choruses, along with meaningful poignant lyrics, with a straight-ahead 'Rock' approach. These styles of music are a large part of his repertoire.
