Fortuity Duo Bio Sheet David H. Roberts is a classically trained violinist who has been playing and performing all types of music since the age of 7. His fiddling expertise spans Celtic, Klezmer and punk rock to anarchy violin and classical playing. The therapeutic, healing aspect of music fascinates David, and he and Tina have developed a Healing Music in Medicine program whereby patients, doctors and staff can be soothed by the presence of live music and have hands-on opportunities with small harps to make their own healing music! David is also a talented composer and singer: His beautiful and haunting song "Astrid" is on Fortuity's first CD, Senka's Joy. David plays mandolin, keyboards, guitar and viola and is a versatile and unique percussionist on many world instruments including Egyptian Dumbek, Irish Bodhran, Turkish Riq and Uzbek Doira. When not performing and composing, he teaches fiddle and violin to a select number of serious students. Tina S. Larkin has sung all her life. Her first instrument was an electric guitar at the age of ten ("I wanted to be a Beatle, but the Boys neither wanted nor needed a ten year old member"). She ended up learning to play her true love, the fiddle. Many years were invested in learning Irish fiddle tunes performed in authentic County Clare style. She studied Gaelic at the University of Texas and sings in Gaelic, Yiddish, Hebrew and English. She entered regional Fleadh Cheoil (Irish Music Competitions) and won awards in Fiddling and Singing. Tina also plays harp and is one of a handful of Klezmer harpists in the world. She has 20 years experience as a performer and as a curriculum designer and presenter of music education programs for adults as well as for children. In 1998, Tina attended the Suzuki Summer Institute at the University of Wisconsin and received her Teacher's Training in Suzuki Violin. Tina has also taught Irish fiddling at the college level at the University of Alaska and now offers workshops in creating healing music on harp.
