Putting Sound Into Pictures
Francis is the title given to the solo project by Remy Boccalatte, a singer/songwriter from Brisbane, Australia. Initially conceived during travel abroad, his return saw a quickly recorded 5 track ep entitled 'Perfect moment destruction tactics' (recorded by David Platzer) independently released under the name 'Intimate with Emily.' Soon After a band was formed comprising of close friends from high school (Ben Vlad, Mitchell Savage, Alex Escobar, Josh Weller). The band played for over a year and recorded a short self titled album that was never released. The band soon split when Remy decided to pursue further travel. The relocation found him in Vancouver where he began playing solo shows again under the name 'Francis.' Upon his last return, he immediately jumped in the studio with Ben Vlad to record a selection of newly inspired songs. Mitchell Savage was brought in on drums and Ziad Samman joined with bass, while Ben also played guitar. These songs are on the ep 'Putting sounds into Pictures.' Putting Sound into Pictures is the new ep release by Francis. Unknown about the Hanabi and Paper & the Plane member, Remy has simultaneously been playing shows here and overseas, either solo or with additional members, slowly developing an audience. This release is an audible illustration of five tracks recorded this year, simply decorating the complexity of change. The ep is a vessel of honesty, exploration and questions, resolving into a myriad of thoughts only limited to the ears of the listener. Sometimes soft, sometimes screaming, Francis is the perfect mix of melody and emotion.
