Surely Like the Rain
'Surely Like The Rain', the debut CD of Fussy ain't half bad. The band was formed in the early 2000's to give form to singer/songwriter Matt Van Dyke's ditties inspired by a year in Portland with his wife Susie and about 'those things that pop into your head'. Bassist/keyboardist Chris McGreevy and drummer Tony Hecker were the first to join Matt - and the fussiness began. Seriously short on nuggets, the band enlisted lead guitarist John Sauer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Spencer to form the Fussy lineup you see today. The band went into BeerSpill Studios in early 2005 to begin recording. 'Surely Like the Rain' is the culmination of their efforts. Focusing on sparseness and simplicity, Fussy has developed a style based on playing less, believing the space between notes is as important as the notes themselves.
