Giovanni Costello is a real gentleman with a warm and velvet voice. He is a singer & pianist as well as a composer. He loves jazz, soul and pop and also never gave up classic where he came from. Giovanni Costello was born near Perugia in Umbria, Central Italy. He studied music at the Conservatory in Perugia and gained his piano diploma in 1989. Then he studied composition in Milan. During his studies he focussed intensively on Pop and Jazz. His whole life he did nothing else than music. When asked about his favorit musicians he names Ray Charles and the Band "Blood, Sweat and Tears". Later, he discovered Paolo Conte and Tom Jones. In the beginning Costello was playing the piano, he went along with a couple of international known singers as Shirley Bassey, Paul Kuhn, Haddaway and Mino Reitano. Later he started his own career. He performed in America (concerts in Los Angeles, Miami, Naples, Florida), all over Europe, in Italy and in Germany. He has given concerts with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Conservatory, Perugia and the Academia Chigiana, Siena. He has participated at the festival of the Music Nations for Chamber Music in Città di Castello/Italy and at the Conservatory in Vienna. Numerous recitals show Giovanni's sophisticated, classical training. Costello participated in the first show of "The Voice of Germany" . He became part of Xavier Naidoos team. His performance singing "What a wonderful World" with his battle partner was one of the very special magic moments of the show. Since autumn 2013 Costello performes with the SWR Big Band. After the Jazzfestival of Baden Württemberg in Germany in October 2013, he was on Tour with the SWR Big Band & Götz Alsmann in January 2014. His new album "Il Gioco" was recorded with the SWR Big Band and just got released in January 2014. The album takes the audience on a beautiful trip through the passionated Italian life with all it's beauty.
