The JBs, is a band of that is alive with the rich history and talent that defined Funk, Soul and R&B. The JBs, originally comprised of the legendary artists from the James Brown Band, under the musical direction of Fred Wesley, have the well-deserved reputation of being "the tightest and best instrumental ensemble in all of Funk". Just some of the James Brown hits these masters of funk have played on are: "Sex Machine", "Super Bad", and "Soul Power". This renowned supporting cast for James Brown officially became a group in 1970 with original members: Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Maceo Parker, Bootsy Collins, Charles Sherrell, Bobby Bird, John "Jabo" Starks, and Clyde Stubblefield (with James Brown being a strong presence). As an accolade to their talent, the J.B.s were a recording presence unto themselves, releasing several hits. The JBs also released two instrumentals - "These are the JBs" and "The Grunt" and had many chart hits of their own such as: "Soul Power '74' and the 1974 album "Us!!", "Pass the Peas", "Gimme Some More", "Damn Right I Am Somebody", which spun off three Top 40 R&B hits in 'Same Beat,' 'If You Don't Get It the First Time, Back Up and Try It Again, Party'.
