(Duplicated CD, Extended Play)
As 2007 became 2008, four friends met in a South East London café to discuss the finer points of contemporary music and the merits of a good hearty fry up. Plans to set up their own rehearsal studio/musical bunker/HQ became reality and soon the odd jamming session gave way to proper songwriting, with a view to building a set to record and gig under the newly adopted moniker, The Grandaughters. Six months later they took a long weekend out to record and produce their 4 track debut EP in Malmesbury. Combining indie influences of The Killers, Athlete and Editors with the intention of incorporating more digital/electro soundscapes, the EP has been enthusiastically lapped up by a rapidly growing following, both online and on CD. During the summer they opened their London gigging diary with well-received performances at Storm in Leicester Square and a headlining slot at The Fly, supported by signed band The Chemists and Ja Ja Wunderbar. Further gigs have been lined up including a night at the prestigious Joiners Club, Southampton, supporting the Plymouths. They also plan to complete a series of mini tours away from London, beginning with the South Coast. Beckoned by the call of festivals for summer 2009, they will be recording again in November - keeping the sounds fresh with new songs flowing from their HQ. Dave | Jamie | Chris | Neil.
