I Gotta Thing for You
From his early beginnings as a singer in school and church groups, Grayson first listened to country music growing up in mid-western America. Although his first insturment was the accordian, Dale soon persuaded his mother to buy him his first six-string. With his Harmony guitar in hand, Dale began to imitate songs made popular by such country greats as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard, Jack Scott, Lefty Frizell, Carl Perkins, Hank Williams, and others. Dale's first commercial recording was with the quartet Crystal, on the Perfect Peace album (with various artists) under the White Light Productions label. After re-locating to Santa Barbara, California in 1990, he became more involved in folk-rock and country-rock songwriting and performing in local Santa Barbara venues. He has recently completed a collection of original songs with his friends from the group Pelvis Elvis, entitled 'I Gotta Thing For You.' Take a listen! Grayson Dale uses influences of contemporary folk-rock artists as diverse as Dylan and Springsteen, to pop-country-rock artists such as Alan Jackson and Dwight Yoakum. His collaboration with the numerous musical talents living in and around his coastal home town of Santa Barbara, have helped him shape and Polish his unique style. His lyrics express the soulful qualities unique to a kind of 'alternative' country relevant to living in the modern world. This is a music with driving rhythmns, compelling vocal harmonies and instrumental solos that distinguish country & rock music today - a music for dancing, listening, and living!
