On their first USA tour Handsome 3some fulfilled the expectations of both dutch journalists and other music business people : this is 'a band that will be capable of reaching across our national borders.' Playing the Rockrgrl Conference in Seattle as their very first USA gig, Handsome 3some certainly knew how to impress the crowd with their powerful music and original approach of alternative rock, mixed with dance samples. Next day guitar player/singer Arjo was instantly asked to join a Conference panel about Grls and Guitars. The first two indie releases from Handsome 3some were their EP's, 'Cute Grrls' (January '98), and 'Fallen Out of Space' (November '98). 'Fallen Out of Space' generated much airplay on national radio stations with the powerful song 'I'. This exposure earned them a chart position in the Dutch Cyber Top 50, as well as many encouraging reviews, and the band soon signed deals with EMI Music Holland and EMI Music Publishing. After years of playing together (Handsome 3some started in 1994), the band has slowly crafted it's sound into the present powerful blend of guitar rock with dance influences. January 2002 Steven replaced bassist Matto. His love for wicked bass synth sounds adds more to Handsome 3some's search for this perfect blend. In May 1999, the band released their first official single with video; 'Do It Again'. This song is also featured as the title song in the European movie 'The Delivery' (Warner Brothers). The film was released worldwide by Tristar Films, following an exciting debut at Cannes last year. The director of the film, Roel Reine, also chose Handsome 3some's 'Inside of Me' to be an important theme in the movie. In the summer of '99, Handsome 3some was asked to play one of the biggest and most important festivals in the Netherlands; 'Lowlands', along with bands like Gang Starr, Suede, Atari Teenage Riot, Public Enemy, Hepcat, Kula Shaker, Chemical Brothers, andBiohazard. Handsome 3some's debut album, 'Listen. To/handsome3some' was released in June '99, followed by their most recent single, 'Drag 'n' Bass'. Clearly, it's a totally new sound for a totally new century in Pop music. With 'QUAB', released November 2000,Handsome 3some merges the forceful kick of dance music with haunting, melodic guitar rock.In addition to Reyn Ouwehand (their producer and the guy responsible for a lot of 'non-analog' noise on the record), Handsome 3some worked with Attie Bauw (engineering and mixing -- and known for his work with Scorpions, Altar and Judas Priest), and Iain Matthews (vocal assistance, 'linguistics support'). In April 2001 the band was asked to do a so-called 'Flashback-tour'. This is a very popular concept in the Netherlands, in which a known dutch band choses a famous artist to do a flashback to. And of course, Handsome 3some added, for the first time in band's history, three musicians and took the challenge of 'A Flashback to Björk'.
