Live at a Pacific Cafe
Henry Allen, greatest JAzz guitarist to ever come out of Hawaii, his career spanning over 5 decades of music, that of Hawaiian Music, American Music and Jazz, Henry's first love. 'Live @ A Pacific cafe' epitomises the style that Henry is famous for, that of the most beautiful songs by the writers and also his own songbook! 'A Pacific Cafe': A first class unique place in Honokowai, West maui, where the food was cooked right in fornt of you. There were two restuarants here on Maui, the woner/chef was Jean Joslin who held his own along with Roy Yamaguchi and the other 'Pacific Rim' design chefs! It was in this fine setting that I played both Jazz and Hawaiian music on the weekends where the people could hear when they passed by as it was partially opened to a patio setting. Long Ago, it seems so far away, I played music at "A Pacific Cafe". This c.d. is a very special one to me, for it closed a particular point in my life and career, which found me out playing these beautiful songs for my friends, like you, in a cozy setting with great food and wines! One who wanted this c.d was my friend, Lyle Graham, also a guitar enthusiast from Oregon, who produced this live recording for me, "Live" one weekend in Honokowai, here on Maui a the Pacific Cafe. To You Lyle, I dedicate this c.d., Lyle, best always to you my friend! John Kane, my favorite chef here who took good care of me, to Jim Bruce, who found the Maui pace got too fast for him, now in Rarotonga, Bruce, I will catch up with you there! Stan Anderson, Mahalo, for coming and supporting me along with all my friends who came. Yes, Long Ago and far way, I played and reminisced at "A Pacific Cafe"! Aloha! Henry Kaleialoha Allen.
