Like It's Hot!
Something significant is afoot when a long-time acoustic duo transforms into a powerful, radio-ready rock trio, virtually overnight. That's precisely what happened to the boys in 'Jason Ellis' (Jason Ellis/guitar and vocals, TJ Young/drums) in late 2002. That 'something' was a revolution...more specifically, 'hey, revolution!' With the addition of Jeff Rieter (bass phenom) and a pair of electric guitars, the band was quickly connecting with larger audiences in the band's hometown of Athens, GA and throughout the southeast. Grounded in friendship, the roots of 'hey, revolution!' trace back to South Florida and spring from a respect for honest, story-driven songwriting. Light-hearted lyrics are a front for songs about 'real life'. Underneath the tongue-in-cheek treatment of matters from heartbreak to hope is one message: ' just have a good time'. And this sentiment, the band takes to heart. 'Hey, revolution!' delivers danceable rock grooves and engaging live performances while striving to resonate with wide ranging audiences. There is certainly no substitute for the least common denominator in life or music. By drawing from influences of the recent past and present (e.g. John Mellancamp, the Cars, Superdrag, Weezer), 'hey, revolution!' keeps the cycle of memorable music spinning. Whether you're grinning, dancing or singing along...when the music hits you, you may just find yourself shouting...'hey, revolution!'
