Exactly As We Are
HONEY PIG BIO Debi Derryberry, Laura Milby and Melissa Sills are the vocal energy behind Honey Pig. The Los Angeles based trio has been performing to enthusiastic audiences at a variety of clubs and coffee houses since 1998. Music BIZ magazine observes, 'Honey Pig's ...vocals pack more perfect, dulcet harmonies than a meeting of the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young oral appreciation society.' The musicians, skillful, one and all, play lead guitar, bass, percussion, harmonica, and mandolin. Derryberry doubles on rhythm guitar. Honey Pig's songwriting is prolific evoking magic and emotion with every exquisite word and note they render. As ambitious and enterprising as they are musically gifted, Honey Pig has released a country-pop delight, Exactly As We Are. The disc is available on Amazon.com and has sold impressively after their shows and via the ladies' website, HoneyPig.com. In addition to their ever-expanding fan base, Derryberry, Milby and Sills have attracted the critics like flies to, well, honey. Respected music industry bible, Music Connection, advises, '...go get the CD, which features the velvety voices of Derryberry and her bandmates, Laura Milby and Melissa Sills. It's right purty!' Digitalcity - Los Angeles scribe, Garrett Kamps, raves, '...they perform classic country originals with pitch-perfect authenticity and the kind of showmanship you can only get from experienced actors and musicians.' Not coincidentally, these country cuties traverse these two performing arts disciplines like others cross the street. Their acting and musical talents are remarkably second nature, which translates to pure enjoyment, not only for them, but also for their audiences, as well. Derryberry spent three years in Nashville working as a voice-over/jingle artist and a country singer/songwriter. An L.A. resident for the past twelve years, Debi has established an extremely successful voice-over career. Her many cartoons include starring in Paramount and Nickelodeon's Oscar-nominated Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, the Emmy-Award winning Life with Louie, Bobby's World, and Nickelodeon's Charlotte's Web II. Among her many other roles, she's the voice of 'Annette in Disney's Lady and the Tramp II, and the voice of Clay, the host of Playhouse Disney. Milby grew up in Varina, Virginia (outside Richmond) with six brothers to make her tough - and keep her that way. As a lark, she borrowed her dad's instruction booklets to teach herself a little piano. She started playing flute in the fifth grade, tinkered around with the bass guitar for a bit, but her true musical affinity has always been with her own voice. She started, as a tot, with church choir and continued into University Choir at Virginia Tech, where she received her B.A. in Theatre Arts. Musical Tours have taken her all over the East Coast and as far as Seoul, Korea. Since moving to L.A., she has performed in several independent films, most recently opposite Michael Madsen. Melissa Sills is the newest Pig, an Opera-trained cutie who can also sing every word of Back in Black. A real 'Soprano' born and raised in New York City, Melissa is a working actress who has appeared in films such as Men in Black II and on various TV shows including Just Shoot Me. After getting her acting degree from NYU, Melissa spent three years in Japan where she modeled, acted and sang acoustic sets in Tokyo clubs including a gig as back up for Paul Anka. She is the healthiest of the Pigs, but has been known to put away some Sake and some say she even ate a cookie once. The girls are fun and cute (some say as sweet as Honey! - and they would be right) and there is great chemistry all around. The harmonies are tight and the vocal blends soar. Honey Pig is not just entertaining -- they're an event!
