Ian Farish got his start in the 90s soaking up the college music scene in Southern Ontario. He studied music at Queen's University and McGill and later moved west to start a family supported by a parallel career teaching music. The completion of the album Soul Songs marks a new stage for Farish as he leaves teaching to tour with his new CD. Farish draws on diverse influences including song writers à la John Mayer and Jann Arden, the live show of Dave Mathews, and the musical depth and atmosphere of U2 and REM. Farish writes songs that are true to his roots as a singer-songwriter, but takes things up a notch with the sax and other horns on several tracks. On tour he is supported by a band of talented multi-instrumentalists.
