Sound of My Soul
Listening to instrumental music in parallel to vocal music with words is one way to develop a deeper understanding of music as a whole. In this way, the listener becomes familiar with a variety of layers that make up the structure of music such as rhythm and melody and learns to receive music not just through the words and poetic meaning. With this in mind, The Sound of My Soul is in essence a selection of the instrumental music of some of the great Masters of Azeri music, expressive of the temperament of the people in this region, and the sweet and bitter moments during the different epochs in the history of this ancient culture. What makes The Sound of My Soul unique and different is that it is a kind of fusion music where the melodic aspect, expressed through the Kamancha, has an Azeri flavor and tone, while the rhythmic part, expressed through the Tombak, Frame Drum (with a variety of pitches and dimensions), Udu, Daf and various percussion toys has an Iranian tone and character.
