Where Ya Gone?
3 time WAMI award winning and legendary premier Wisconsin Ska band! Rocking stages and pleasing fans for over twenty-five years, releasing six CD's, 2 vinyl EPs and appeared on over 25 CD compilations! Started up as a party band as far back as 1987 but by 1989 embraced the core Ska sound the band has carried since. Many musical styles and bands have influenced the band over the years including Reggae, Calypso, Rock Steady (all musical styles originating in Jamaica and the West Indies) and punk. But artists like Danny Elfman (and his band Oingo Boingo) or 80's greats like XTC and the Police have had there influences infused into the music. Bands from the '2-Tone' British Ska movement heavily influenced lead singer and band founder Max. Listening to bands like The English Beat, The Specials, The Selector, Madness, Bad Manners and American 80's Ska stars The Toasters is where Max cut his teeth on the style. Bob Marley, UB40 and other Reggae stars added their influence and groove. Digging into the 1960's sounds of Ska pioneers and legends like Desmond Dekker, Laurel Aitken, Toots Hibbert and so many other originators only added to the rich history influencing Max and his band. Today, Max & The Invaders are not only likened to many of their 2nd wave Ska counterparts of the 1990's like Mustard Plug, Fishbone and Johnny Socko, but also contemporary artists like Reel Big Fish, No Doubt and Sublime.
