Delay the Daylight
2008 brings the Debut Album from Iprofess 'Delay the Daylight'. Using vinyl sampling, live instrumentation, as well as hard synthetic drums this album stylistically blends jazz and down tempo. From the opening track 'The Sound of Graffiti' you get a sense that the artist is an old soul. A blistering vintage rhodes sound provides a melody line that bounces on break beats. Audio imagery and wind chimes also give this song deep complexity. 'Delay the Daylight' (the title track), 'My Moods Descent', as well as 'Wrap Me in Your Colors' build an array of emotional depth. Multi-faceted in his attempt to connect with the listeners soul. 'Black Keys' and 'Runnin' on Rooftops' show another side to this versatile artist, relying entirely on vibe and rawness. What stands out most on this album is the live instrumentation. While sampling is clearly used, it feels more like an after thought. Hip Hop, Jazz, and Soul are the clear inspirations and catalyst for his sound. Blending the old with the new Iprofess hopes to dust off a page from the sounds of yesterday.
