Renew My Spirit
"Renew My Spirit" is the birthing of a seed and dream deposited many years ago. It boasts a refreshing blend of traditional and contemporary gospel music featuring hit songs like, "If We Pray", "Worry to Worship", "Heaven" and the title song, "Renew My Spirit". All of the songs and melodies were written by Ruffin-Knotts, whose diversity of style has been compared to CeCe Winans, Nora Jones and India.Arie, with a vocal range to match. This power-packed voice in it's small frame is certain to surprise, delight, soothe and encourage all at once. "These songs were born from my personal experiences and my relationship with Jesus Christ," said Ruffin-Knotts. "Falling in love with Jesus is the best thing I've ever done, and this project is my attempt to share His love with the world. My goal is to encourage the hearts of believers, win lost souls for Christ and influence all who hear this music to have a deeper encounter with the Master and Savior of all." The third of five children to Pastor and Mrs. Anthony Ruffin, Irreka Ruffin-Knotts began her musical career singing lead for the "Ruffin Five" at the ripe age of three. After graduating with honors from Northampton High School, Irreka enrolled at the prestigious James Madison University, where she excelled musically and academically. While there, she directed the University's Inspiration Ensemble. After graduation, Irreka enlisted in the United States Army, and was quickly recruited by the 7th Group Resolute Ensemble where she further developed her musical gifts and was a frequently-requested soloist at military engagements, celebrity functions, schools, banquets and nursing homes across the United States. While balancing career and music ministry, Irreka also earned a Master's degree in Accounting from Old Dominion University. A native of Virginia's Eastern Shore, Irreka currently resides in Suffolk, Virginia with her college sweetheart husband and their vibrant and extraordinary daughter, Alaya. She and her family are loyal members of Gethsemane Community Fellowship in Norfolk, under the anointed leadership of Pastor Kirk T. Houston.
