When the Sun Goes Down
J.R. Baude - When The Sun Goes Down... - A Closer Look When describing J.R. Baude's CD "When The Sun Goes Down..." one may be given to uttering phrases like "Rock", "Pop-Rock", "Adult-Accessible". But, such bumper-sticker monikers leave a lot left behind. The content here is most definitely very listenable, but there is a thoughtfulness and depth to the songwriting and production that must be acknowledged for one to properly illustrate the project as a whole. Each song on this record has it's own distinct identity not just in subject matter, but in style characteristics, and instrumentation. In most cases, this approach to a record might result in "listener fatigue" or a perceived artistic schizophrenia, but here the differences become contrast, not conflict. Each cut is part and parcel to the rest. This CD was made to be listened to as a whole. The production is highlighted by a full, muscular pop sound featuring strong rock grooves, a full range of instrumentation, world elements, strong vocals, and thoughtful prose. Of other note all tracks on this CD, from first note to final mastering were the work solely of J.R. Baude.
