Shelter from the Shame
In May 2003 J.D. was asked to perform at a fundraiser for BatteredWomen.com, a non profit 501(c)(3)organization committed to helping battered women and teens. The organization currently helps women and girls in all 50 states with their website, reaching over 1 million women every month. It was after that meeting that J.D. made a commitment to bring this subject to the public through the special power of music by writing a song for the cause. J.D. wrote 'Shelter From The Shame' and pledged the proceeds from the CD to Battered Women.com. Through local press and benefit concerts the endeavor has been locally successful but J.D. wanted to take the idea to the another level of media in order to reach the masses. And so, Project Shelter From The Shame was born - a compelling, hard hitting music video depicting the ever-growing reality of domestic violence. The video will be aired on J.D.'s website along other media venues and will be available for sale on DVD. J.D. believes that Project Shelter From The Shame will spark public emotion and bring much need awareness to this wide spread problem. Funding is necessary in order to provide services to help battered women and teenage girls put an end to the pain, suffering and cycle of domestic violence that plagues their lives every day. The funds raised through CD and DVD sales will help provide services and shelters where battered women and teenage girls can find a safe haven to flee to with their children. J.D. Danner is a native New Yorker currently living in South Florida. After a brief gig in the corporate world, J.D. decided pantyhose and deadlines was not the life for her. So she burned the pantyhose, picked up her guitar and has been performing in South Florida as well as nationally ever since. Her gift for songwriting combined with her smokey vocal stylings and passionate live performance makes her an artist not to be missed.
