J2 is a New York based R&B Hip-Hop singer and songwriter, who uses a blend of his own unique musical gifts to create and sing songs that demonstrate a diverse blend of his musical background. At age 7, he started getting involved with the youth choir at St. Pauls A.M.E. Zion Church, directed by David McCormick, where he first developed his love for music. His father, an inspirational gospel singer influenced J2 by bringing him to several solo and choir performances while introducing him to musicians who he worked with personally. At age 12, involvement in school music/drama activities began for J2. In 8th grade, he was involved in his first talent show, singing a song that won him first place in the event. During his high school years, he was a member of Area All State. All County Chorus, Advanced Chamber Choir, Jazz All County, Mixed Chorus, Martin Luther King Choir, and the New Hope Institutional Baptist Church Youth Choir. He received an award for 'Most Outstanding Musician', performed in 'The King and I' character Lun Tha, and also in '1940's Radio Hour', character Biff Baker. J2 is known gracing the stage with his energy in combination with an appealing voice. After high school, while attending Rockland Community College, J2 expanded upon his knowledge of the music business. He started working with producer 'Mykstro', who provided tracks to J2's original lyrical compositions. Mykstro introduced him to Head Nod Records, an independent label based out of Westchester, N.Y. J2 was involved as a singer/songwriter and part of the production of the label. After writing several lyrical compositions and receiving an overwhelming response to friends and associates, J2 began his solo career. He started performing locally at talent show, fashion shows, and night clubs as he built his local fan base. While attending Hunter College in Manhattan, N.Y., he was a part of 'Talents Unlimited' participated as a singer/model/actor for events held in school. He also attended Five Towns College in Long Island where music business was his major. Due to popular demand, J2 has appeared at several other musical performances as both an artist and model. J2 gained musical experiences networking with fellow music associates and musicians by attending several seminars, workshops and through performing in various live performances. He is currently working with upcoming producers Twins N.Y., J. Alexander (did track for 50 cent 'Window Shopper'), and other upcoming artists and producers. He has recently appeared on Hall of Fame Records compilation album hosted by DJ Kay Slay, and released an album with 11 songs entitled 'Past Memories', that is one of the hottest records on the street. J2's upcoming album release will be in stores and available online by Summer of 2006.
