The music I compose is written in a state of being similar to meditation and what has been termed channeling. Before starting a composition, I sit quietly and wait for the cosmos to show me where to begin. I search through sounds in digital synthesis and then listen...for a given sound that reflects most accurately a part of what is being "channeled" through me. I then manipulate that sound, fine-tuning it to match the message of the whole and add it to the emerging composition. With further manipulation, addition of other sounds, the full song idea starts to present itself. Throughout this process I try very hard to listen more to where the music wants to be rather than impose my will or ego on the composition. The "music of the cosmos" is very beautiful, intricate, and I think most of this music already exists, just waiting for the artist or composer - who acts more like a radio receiver/manipulator/transmitter, a conduit, an inspired messenger. In a true sense artists are mediums or psychics, bringing music from the universe of eternity here to the earth, for all to enjoy. The natural flow of life in the (many) universes is to move forward. This forward movement has creativity as it's essence. In this way art permeates and nourishes the soul. Because "created" art becomes again a permanent part of eternity, as we are, our true inner souls are naturally attracted to all of the arts. Thus, a viewer of a painting, or the listener of music, by becoming an audience to art, joins the artist in the creative process and becomes one with healing beauty, and thus shares in shaping things to come. Living out in the Arizona desert for thirty years has influenced everything I do. The spectacular night skies in the Sonoran Desert are a direct space portal. Through music we can enter that portal.
