I was born and raised in Michigan. When I was 11 years old, the youth worship team at my church asked if I would learn to play bass. God blessed me with a great desire for music from that point on. With incredible teachers and experiences, the desire and skills have been growing ever since. I was put in charge of leading worship at Mount Hope Dayspring Church in Jackson, MI at an early age. Through my responsibilities at church, God put a desire in me to further my music. I have a fire burning inside to praise Him and usher people into His awesome presence through the musical talent that He has blessed me with. I have been influenced musically by worship leaders I have served under, and also by popular artists such as Jars of Clay, Sanctus Reel, and Hillsong United. I have been compared to a number of different artists. I think my sound is a cross between Lifehouse, Goo Goo Dolls, and Jars of Clay. I have strong, powerful lyrics, songs that touch people where they are at, and bring them closer to God. My music reaches a wide demographic of people, from kids/young adults to their parents. Through the experiences I have had leading worship or playing my own shows, I have been told I help people enter into the presence of God. When I play, it is all about giving glory to God. Whether I am playing in church or playing a show in a coffee shop, I have a great time engaging the people and getting everyone involved in the music. The energy is incredible! I always have an amazing time jumping around with my guitar or microphone, letting everything I have inside of me come out. The head of the Music and Media Department at Mount Hope Church, Pastor Amanda Whitehead, had this to say about me, "Jacob plays with an unbridled passion. His love for the Lord, and for music, show each time he takes the stage." That energy transfers to my audience as the music, and Who the music is for, takes over. It is powerful; the music, the lyrics, and every single note.
