Jacques y Porrocandela
Jacques Y Porrocandela is a band that comes from the Colombian Caribbean Coast. It was formed in 2005 in Cereté, Colombia with the vision of giving a new contemporary flavor (Rock, Funk and Rap) to the reach roots music that has been nurturing the land since time immemorial (Porro, Puya y Fandango). Each member of the band comes from a different musical background and adds his particular taste to this delicious melting pot. The album was recorded in Audiopolis Studios in Barranquilla, Colombia; site in which huge Colombian bands, such as Joe Arroyo y la Verdad, Juan Carlos Coronel and Checo Acosta record frequently their hit albums. In radio promotion the album has done pretty well, as it have achieved first places in the Top 10 of stations in Latin formats in the Colombian Caribbean Coast, e.g. Olímpica and Tropicana Stereo. The earlier and precursor album to this one was a compilation of songs and video documentary about the experience of the band's leader, Jacques Kerguelén in Australia performing with Australians music from Colombia, which when it was produced and disseminated in Colombia caused in the audience an impressive feeling of pride, as shown in this news reviews: "Jacques Kerguelén has consolidated himself as one of the artist from Cordoba (Colombian province) that has achieved more success in foreign lands" - El Meridiano News.
