With What I Got
James Kamp is a songwriter, musician, and physical therapist living near Columbia, MO. 'With What I Got' is his third solo album. It's all acoustic and all just James. After 2005's watershed electric 'Out Alive' declaration of wide-eyed freedom and joy, 'With What I Got' steps back to express everyday hopes and concerns; from James' own feelings on 'Where My Heart Goes' and 'That's When I Miss You The Most', to stories of people he's met along the way like 'Pauline' and 'Mae Gibson' (both about people he's known from working in nursing homes), to the personal/universal understanding of 'Seven Oceans'. It's always been the songs, really. The goal is to express them the best you can in any given moment, but to let them get out into the world. If there's beauty and truth, and even magic, out there, get out of it's way and let it come through you. That's doing the best you can do with what you got.
