Born in Melbourne in '67, Janine Marshall has been kicking around the idea of 'song-crafting' for a long time: from singing atop kindergarten monkeybars, to borrowing friend's basses, keyboards, guitars and reel to reels...then jamming...gigging...and ever studying the magic of the 3 minute pop song. The years gone by have seen Janine playing rock bass, acoustic guitar, and singing in many a line-up...whilst collecting more and more recording gear...but more recently acting as a small-time producer/engineer for a few fellow muso friends. Solo and 'Janine Marshall Band' gigs have also been known to pop up around her home town from time to time. 'As a writer/performer her songs have been described as 'blues-funk-folk', with a leaning towards heavily accented rhythm guitar playing, smatterings of flamenco, 'jazzy', and definitely pop-rock structured. The vocally lower range is a little reminiscent Martha Davis or Crissie Hynde.' Anon.
