It's a Dog's Life
Based out of Tryon, North Carolina, the Jay Lichty Band is an energetic four-member band turning out an exciting blend of original Folk/Rock, Americana and Contemporary Rock material. Playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar or mandolin and singing lead, Jay has teamed up with Bob Tauber (Bobby Love), from Philly, Pa, on drums and harmony vocals; Enoree South Carolina's Randy Simpson on electric bass; and Tryon, North Carolina's Jay Goree on keyboard, acaoustic guitar and harmony vocals. Regarding genre...their style has been described as BlueJazzGrassRock/New Americana. Jay Lichty is best known as a sideman, singing harmony vocals and playing mandolin, banjo, and electric banjo for regional groups such as Seconds Flat, Lost John, The Lone Derangers and Cat's Eye Blue. Finally surrendering to a strong desire to play guitar and perform his own brand of Folk-Rock-Americana-Country material, Jay recruited another "Jay", local lead member of The Carburetors, Jay Goree, for his keyboard, acoustic guitar playing and harmony vocals, as well as Philly, Pa. drummer Bobby Love (The Heartland Band and After Midnight) for his tasteful timing, drum chops and harmony vocals. Bringing his own special brand of discerning bass licks to the mix, formerly with The Cartoon Factory and currently with After Midnight and The McGowan Band, Enoree, S.C. bassist Randolph Simpson rounds out the quartet. "The Jay Lichty Band sounds like Dave Mathews meets The Barenaked Ladies." "The diversity is uncanny. They just get through with a blistering mandolin driven rock song and switch into a sultry electric guitar ballad. You think you have them pegged and then, wham, they're playing straight ahead bluegrass or an acoustic guitar/keyboard driven love song." "Django Reinhardt intros with Mark Knopfler style riffs and Sam Bush chops laced with tasteful keyboards, soul grooving drums and solid jamming electric bass guitar woven around lyrics that will strike a chord in everyone. You need to check out It's a Dog's Life. "
