Child the Christmas Rose
Jeanne was what the experts call a child prodigy. She began playing chords and melody at the age of three. Her professional career began at age fifteen, playing piano and singing. In addition to live performances, she was a staff musician and vocalist at WCCO radio and television along with her late husband, musician Willie Peterson. She has played shows for such notables as Bob Hope, Red Skelton, and has performed with jazz greats Sonny Stitt, Bud Shank, Marion McPartland, and Paul Whiteman. For her outstanding contributions to music and to the community, Jeanne Arland has been inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, has had a day declared in her honor by the Governor of Minnesota, and most recently was the recipient of the Arts Midwest Jazz Master Award.
