Back Around Again
Though some have likened this Baltimore-based musician's style to those of some other intense female acoustic rockers, no one can completely pin down her sound. Her mix of pop and rock is laced with sounds ranging from gritty angst to story folk to melodic pop. It is uniquely her own, including her voice. While her songs are infectiously catchy and melodic, they are far from run of the mill pop. They, and her intense style, are marked by a passionate energy and honest frankness. Listening to her music is like riding a wave of emotions changing as suddenly as the sounds they travel on. 'Back Around Again' showcases the refinement of Jeanny Kim's style over time. The CD is chock full of noteworthy songs, many being favorites of her live performances. 'Forget About It' has long been a crowd pleaser, and the recorded version is quite similar to her acoustic. Other songs that were written while recording the CD are immediately appealing such as 'Push Through' and 'Open a World.' Other noteworthy songs display intensity and emotion that listeners can easily relate to, for example 'Over You,' 'So I'm Not Sorry,' and 'Away.'
