Song of Zion
Jennifer Lynn Smith is an independent singer/song writer from Kansas City who sings with haunting vocals and strums her acoustic guitar with non-traditional rythms and chords. When performing with award winning mandolinist Josh Hungate, the phat bass groves of Dylan Reiter, and the smooth ethnic drumming by Jennifer's husband Alex Smith, her band Song of Zion comes to life. Song of Zion's originals include thought-provoking, Bible-inspired lyrics that question the purpose of human existence. Influences such as Indie Acoustic Rock, Celtic, Jazz, African, Australian, Gospel, and Central American & Middle Eastern rhythms are among the many genres incorporated into their acoustic-folk style. Artists like Leigh Nash, Deloris O Riordan, and Jennifer Knapp have been major influences in Jennifer's vocal preference. Song of Zion has been performing in various coffeehouses in the Kansas City area for the last six years.
