Jim Hurt has been intimately involved in the Nashville music industry since the age of fourteen. His experience ranges the scope from Jimi Hendrix to Alabama. He has been involved as writer, singer, demo producer or instrumentalist in a wide variety of music endeavors ranging from Pop, Rythm and Blues, Southern Rock to Country. Early on, Jim performed with musical greats such as; Joe Tex, Al Green, Bobby Hebb, and Jimi Hendrix. He has been on the road with such acts as Doug Kershaw, Mother Earth, Little Richard, and Ray Stevens. Jim was the bandleader and front man for three bands in Boston, Mass. He worked for such notables as David Kennedy (18th birthday party on the Kennedy compound) and Sergeant and Eunice Shriver (private parties). Jim was also a producer for the publishing division of Essential Sound Studios, 330 Newbury St. While in the Boston area he accomplished his first album project, produced by Eddie Kramer of Led Zeppelin fame and recorded at Electric Lady Studios NYC. In 1977 Jim signed on with the founding writing team at House of Gold Publishing Co. Headed by Bob Montgomery. During this time, Jim produced and sang many of the original demo's written at House of Gold. Among them the Henley/Silbar song 'Wind Beneath My Wings'. This CD features the first-ever recording of Jim singing this phenomenal song. All other songs on this CD are written (or co-written) by Jim Hurt. These House of Gold hits include 'Love In the First Degree'(recorded by Alabama), 'Am I Too Late' (recorded by Gladys Knight, 'I Keep Coming Back (by Razzy Bailey), 'Ain't No Trick'( by Lee Greenwood), and 'Temporary Love' (recorded by Leon Russell.) The final song on this CD was written by Jim when he was working for Merit Music. 'Making It Hard On The Working Man' was a top country hit for John Conlee. Jim's songs can also be found on the albums of dozens of top artists Including Dottie West, Jerry Reed, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Joe Sun, Rita Coolidge, Kenny Rogers, Delbert McClinton and several others. Jim's songs have earned six awards as BMI's Most Performed Songs of the Year - four country and two pop. He wrote three number one country songs, one top ten country song, and one top twenty pop song. The songs that Jim wrote have appeared on 69 albums and 29 major label single releases. Jim Hurt wrote five #1 country songs, one Top Ten pop song and one Top Twenty pop song.
