It's About the Songs
I'm not sure why I write these songs. I used to keep a journal. Perhaps songwriting took it's place. But, these words, scratched down over the past 15-plus years and recorded over the past ten years, in some ways chronicle the journey. There are others, too. The journey isn't finished. There are important themes running through them. Fast, sure friendship is the first. Good friends will see you through a lot of trouble. Love and lost love is another recurring thread. Did I mention trouble? Some songs speak of freedom, both personal and political. Finally, there is the struggle with faith and doubt. Yeah, there are a few songs I didn't write. But, I liked them, and they fit. So, if you write songs, they are meant to be sung. There are better singers, and there are better musicians. But, you get me instead. After all, it's not about the singer. It's about the songs.
