Jim Welsh was born in the north west Tasmanian town of Burnie on friday the 12th march 1943.He lived most of his young life in the mining town of Rosebery on the west coast of tasmania.At the age of fourteen jim learned guitar the key of 'D' and until he he increased his array of cords addapted songs to fit the cords he knew. In 1974 jim and his young family moved to the north tasmanian town of george town on the tamar river. Jim began playing cabaret with friends and in a duo with Ron Shegog played all around the state of tasmania and the Bass Strait islands.In the eighties jim and ron made several t.v.appearences both state and nationally. As a solo artist Jim has made several appearences in Sydney and at Tamworth, Australia's country music capital.The album 'armistice waltz' contains three of Jim's own compositions,'country through and through,Roy and armistice waltz'.Jim has received air-play internationally in France,England,U.S.A. New Zealand,Denmark,Ireland.
