John Hummer's Solo Project
John Hummer is a singer/songwriter from Danville Pennsylvania. He first began writing music and playing in local bands at the age of 15 and has continued to do so from that point on. John formed the band Plum Crazy (Danville, PA based) in 2002, playing classic rock favorites along with a few originals in local clubs. The band became popular and continues to play in some of those same clubs today. As a writer, John prefers the Blues and Ballads. Some of his songs are about actual events and people. For example, Come And Walk With Me, a simple song featuring John and his acoustic guitar, was written for a good friend and five-year drummer for Plum Crazy, Carl Poust. Carl was taken from us far too soon, dying in an automobile accident in 2007. Listen was written for John's wife, Shirley, who continues to run sound and take pictures for the PA based trio, and Shane's Song was written for their first-born grandson. To this day, John says he owes a great deal of gratitude to Dr. Evans who first placed a guitar in his hands and showed him how to play chords, his Uncle, Wayne Deibert, who gave him a guitar and several music books when he was 12 years old, and his Uncle, Bill Deibert, who provided John and his friends with a place to rehearse in the early years. Music has always been a part of John's life and his lifelong goal was to release a CD of his music. John Hummer's "Solo Project" took approximately one year to complete from beginning to end. Throughout this time, John was still mourning the loss of his friend Carl, and he decided to do the project on his own. He feels this helped him get through a rough time. John continues to write in his free time and plans on doing another CD in the future.
