Turn the Time Around
This recording begins with the song 'Turn the Time Around' reminding the listener that time has the inevitable components of destiny; yet, offers happiness if we know how to find it and retain it - which becomes rather difficult in our turbulent time. Rhumba Carnaval has a joyful note and touches on a happy culture where rhythm elevates people away from problems towards moments of carefree living while the sounds of La Mer (The Sea) give us more reflection upon the sea, the ocean of love and life! All too often moments of beauty are carelessly interrupted by ribald language, a noisy affirmation of lack of culture. The influence of temper in tone, the human voice and much more so the warm voice of this lady brings the measure of life across, not confusing or distracting but elevating the everyday struggling person, whatever their musical endowments may hold, affirming the lasting values of bygone civilization and blending the tastes of all. Cultured enjoyment is not necessarily the privilege of high ranking society alone but rests in the character of the artist who sings for the joy of sound and engraves truth and cultivation of taste in the style of their interpretation. Music which does not elevate or entertain our people confuses their souls and lasting happiness will all too often evade them. June Simon has rapidly begun to become a singing star for her fans, those who love a wide variety of songs, as she sings for her people of love, of countries and places and life as it happens. June Simon is joined in this project by the masterful arrangements and musicianship of Pierre Grill, musician extraordinaire. Trained extensively in classical and modern music at the Marseilles Conservatory of Music, Pierre has brought his French born sensitivity and temperament to create the beautiful sound of L'Escargot.
