The 'K' Trio, which includes Mary Kasprzyk Tokarski, Julie Kasprzyk Cardona, and Walter Kasprzyk, began performing together in 1996, after a hiatus of over 25 years. Each of the members of this sister/brother team is an accordion champion in his/her own right. Julie represented the United States in the Coupe Mondiale (World Accordion Championships) in Holland (1967), England (1968) and New York City (1969). Mary represented the U.S. in the Coupe Mondiale in Belgium (1971) and France (1973). Walter captured the Connecticut State Championship Title in 1966, 1967 and 1968, and went on to be a contender for the United States Championship many times thereafter. As a duet team, Mary and Julie held the American Accordionists' Association Duet Championship for over 12 years without being defeated. As soloists, as a duet team, and as a trio, they have performed both classical and contemporary music in concerts and performances all over the United States, in Australia and New Zealand, and in Europe . . . and have cumulatively earned over 450 trophies and awards during their competitive years. Enjoy the 'Images' created here . . . AND enjoy the ever-changing sound of the accordion . . . performed with a sincere love for the music and the instrument! SOME QUOTES from COLLEAGUES and AUDIENCES: 'These three accordionists play with musicianship rarely displayed by musicians of ANY kind. They also convey a new image of their instrument to everyone fortunate enough to hear them.' Joan Cochran Sommers, Professor and Assistant Dean, UMKC Conservatory of Music, Kansas City, Missouri 'This trio comes as a real refreshment . . . Technically competent, tonally clear and crisp, their performance is spirited, emotional and involving. As an ensemble, they achieved great balance and togetherness, which is a clear sign of high professional ability.' Tania Lukic-Marx, CD reviewer, Accordions Worldwide Website - January, 2000 'If I didn't see the three accordionists, I'd have sworn I was listening to a full orchestra!' Concert attendee!
