HEAVENLY HARP: INSPIRATIONAL SONGS AND STORIES True stories of those who encounter God in the passage to eternal life. Peaceful songs of faith, beautifully performed with harp, vocals and flute. 2 CD set: CD 1 - Stories and Songs, CD 2 - Songs only Through the stories and music on this DOUBLE CD, the passage to eternal life is revealed as an experience of great hope, peace, and joy, as families are reconciled, people come to new faith, and some even see visions of angels, departed loved ones, or Jesus himself. Harp, vocal and flute music are blended with faith-building stories, scripture, and prayers, creating a unique proclamation of God's love, and a glimpse of eternal life in his presence. The stories offer people spiritual and emotional reassurance: assurance that it is never too late to be accepted into heaven by a loving God, assurance that the passage into eternal life is not to be feared, assurance that we will see our departed loved ones again. By sharing the wonder and beauty of the journey toward heaven, the purpose of this ministry is to bring comfort to the grieving, faith to those who doubt, and joy to all in looking forward to eternal life. With this CD, the Heavenly Harp ministry moves beyond the rooms of a few hospice units to touch the hearts and lives of many more in need of healing and wholeness. Listeners' comments: 'I became completely engrossed in your stories of grace and healing, and was equally captivated by the music of your harp and voice. . . I thank you for making God's message available to others through the gift of your beautiful voice and harp. And what a wonderful witness tool your patient testimonials will be to those who have not yet experienced God's grace in their lives!' 'Karin is much more than a harpist. . . she is an inspiration for everyone she touches.' 'We got one of your CDs at the recent conference. We have been playing it constantly since then. I need to tell you that it is reaching so deeply down in our souls and helping us begin to heal from many things that have been plaguing us. I cannot tell you how I feel when I listen to the CD - the healing tears and joys come up from the farthest depths. The music is moving to begin with, but the music with the stories is incredible. What a gift from God this CD is! Bless you so much for being willing to share your faith in this way. . .' 'After listening for a few minutes I realized that this was something that had to be inspired by GOD' 'It is calming to the troubled and speaks to those who are going through doubt and worry about their standing with GOD in their last hours.' 'This CD will give more uplifting support to many thousands of people with cancer and their caregivers than anything I have come across. The accounts of the patients in Hospice that you have ministered to, and the music work together in a way that only GOD could have led . . .' 'The professional presentation of this CD is exquisite.' 'I used to fear death, but now I look forward to eternal life.' ABOUT KARIN From an early age, Karin's life has been filled with music and faith. She is an accomplished vocalist, harpist, pianist and flutist, and her musical career has included work as a public school music teacher, a private music instructor, a church musician, and a performer. Singing songs of faith is her passion, and she has performed as a vocal soloist in concert halls and churches alike. Karin now serves as a Harp Practitioner in hospice facilities, and is fondly known as the 'singing harpist.' Her ministry brings peace and comfort to patients and their families in times of sorrow and pain. She is often privileged to share in the amazing experiences of these patients as they cross over into heaven, as families are reconciled, people come to new faith in Christ, and some even see visions of angels, departed loved ones, or Jesus himself. As Christians, we have the assurance of eternal life with God, but sometimes there is still fear of the unknown process of dying. We have friends and family with life threatening or terminal illnesses, we have friends who are grieving the loss of someone they love. Have you wished you could give them something that would really minister to them in their specific need? Or wished you had a unique way to assure your doubting friends of God's love for them? Karin has seen the Lord's grace at the point of death, and the Lord's amazing assurances to family members who are grieving. People of all ages have been inspired by Karin's stories and songs and report they no longer fear death after listening to 'Heavenly Harp,' knowing they will never be alone and that the Lord will minister to them in all their needs. THE ORIGIN OF THE HEAVENLY HARP MINISTRY AND CD The patient at Gardiner home lay unconscious. She hadn't had anything to drink for two weeks. She had outlasted everyone's predictions. 'They told me she would be gone a week ago,' said the patient's best friend of 30 years. 'I don't know why she's still here.' Karin Gunderson, a harpist for Hospice of the Valley, played and sang hymns at the bedside. 'I told her how well-prepared the Lord allows people to become before He brings them home.' As I continued to sing and share some examples the woman hesitated for a moment, then looked at me and said: 'You are the reason she is still here. I was supposed to meet you.' I knew she was right but had no idea why.' The patient died later that day and out of her family's response came the CD she had long known that she needed to produce. 'It's been an interesting road that brought us to this point. Looking back, I believe the beginning of my journey started with singing in nursing homes and church as young as 6 years old. My family adopted a baby brother when I was 8. I brought him to school for show and tell! He was such an energetic, fun boy as he grew. His hero was the Fonz from Happy Days and he even got a look-a-like leather jacket. He always wanted an electric guitar. When he was seven we found out he had brain cancer. If it was the slow growing kind he could live 10-20 years, if it was the aggressive kind, 6-12 months. He died 5 months later. When we found out he was dying I wanted to do something special for him, so I took my hard-earned babysitting money and bought him a used electric guitar. He strummed it as he lay in his bed (Mom and Dad made sure he didn't get an amplifier.) Near the end he couldn't talk and he could only communicate with his eyes. One of the most difficult things for me was when Dad asked him if he was scared and his eyes went wild. I wished so badly that I could take away that fear, but I had no personal experience with death. I felt helpless to comfort him.' 'I realized recently that God, in his graciousness, has now given me a way to help others overcome the fear and uncertainty of death. Through the stories that those who have been resuscitated have shared and those who have been close enough to see through the veil between this earthly life and the heavenly one that awaits have experienced, I have been given a taste of the beauty of what is to come.' 'God took the thing that hurt me most deeply about my brother - there was nothing I could do to quell that fear,' Karin said. 'He gave me a way, through music and storytelling, to ease people's fears. How merciful of God to allow me to minister to others what I could not minister to my own brother.' 'People who hear it say they sense the Holy Spirit's presence, especially in the story and song CD. Many people come back to buy more CDs, to share a meaningful gift with those who are facing cancer or life-threatening illness, those who are grieving the loss of a loved one, those who are on hospice or those who fear death.' The Heavenly Harp CD, with it's staple of favorite hymns, assuring scripture and inspirational stories of God's love, is a meaningful and comforting gift. If the CD weren't enough, Karin also dreams of someday creating a retreat center. She realized that was her dream after reading The Dream Giver. 'I want a place for people to walk through woods on paths, sit on benches, rest in a hammock - a beautiful place of peace for rest and renewal with peaceful harp music and daily worship,' she said. For now, Karin would like to gain experience at conducting retreats, and see how God might someday provide a location. In October, Karin led the adult education time at her church's All-congregation Camp, and also designed and led a women's retreat at Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center in Carefree. Her unique leadership is based in God's Word, and includes spiritual reflection and discussion, harp and vocal music, worship, and prayer. What is driving all this activity? Karin, a pastor's daughter, says the Lord guides her life. Throughout her life, she has viewed God as benevolent, comforting, loving and accepting. Those qualities surround her in family and friends.
