Kathleen Spencer was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and spent 9 years of her childhood immersed in Alaska's beauty. She began learning the piano at the age of 6 on a small Casio keyboard, and although her family moved to Vancouver, Washington, part of Kathleen's spirit remained in the serene surroundings of Fairbanks. As a result, many of her pieces reflect the beauty and freedom found there. Kathleen graduated from Hudson's Bay High School and has received an Associates Degree from Clark College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Russian Studies and Music from the University of Washington. She spent her youth playing the flute in all of her school bands and hopes to someday integrate more instruments to her future compositions. Her dream is to share her music with everyone and hopefully someday hear her music in a motion picture. She and her husband David recently celebrated the birth of their first child, Kira Elaine. Kathleen's CD, 'Explorations', was released in 2002 and captured the attention of many, including Broadjam.com where she topped the charts as #1 song on their Top 10, Northwest, and Pop lists, and ranked #3 on their Earth, US, and North America lists. Kathleen's work is refreshing and full of surprises, as she has broken away from the structure of classical music, and although portions of each song resemble the new age style, due to her lack of repetition she has seemingly created a style all her own. Currently many of her works have been forwarded to music libraries throughout the country and are awaiting release in future films, TV, and other productions.
