Katie B discovered her passion for writing songs from around the age of 12. At a time in her life where she considered the world of acting, she performed a rough version of Either Way for her drama class as if it were a poetic act in a play. The response was great, as her classmates were impressed. In late 2004, she was given the opportunity to record her first CD. 'It was amazing' she says. 'I gave John Johnson (producer at Higher Ground Media Group) a CD of the rough versions of some songs I worked on with Charles Galloway and was interested in recording. John put some of his ideas into it, and it was amazing to me. When my mom heard There's More Than This to Love, the first song we recorded, she started to cry. One of my close friends listened to it and loved it.' So what's unique about Katie B's music? 'I love breakdowns. I like to surprise people with something interesting near the end of some of my songs. I like how that part of the song takes it to a new height, and it makes you wonder what's next. I love different kinds of music, and I don't like having to stick to just one. That's why each of my songs are different.'
