Katina's songs were not meant for sheer entertainment. They are instead songs to inspire and songs to instruct young and old alike. Songs to convict and songs to make you weep. Songs to express at times the inexpressable. These songs were born out of a sheer soul driven outpouring of conviction: Write about what you love. That love was found in the countless stories of Christians found in the early church..yes, those Christians thrown to lions and those Christians who stood up to powerful Emperors and those Christians who lost their lives for their beliefs. And then a theme was born for 'The Christmas Story'...in the voice in the wilderness..the flight into Egypt and all the wonder filled events meant to awaken the heart and soul of the listener. Christmas was not meant to hurl us into nameless crowds of people and glitz and glamour. Instead on that night only a few quiet and impoverished souls experienced an event that would change the course of history forever. Perhaps it is unrealistic to think that the Christmas Season will carry on in such a way...but maybe for that moment when the listener is hearing the wondrous contemplation of 'I Wonder As I Wander' or recalling how an ancient Christmas Hymn was born...maybe just for that time..a spark of hope will enter the Spirit and 'The Christmas Story' will not live in vain, but with eternal hope and remain in the heart of the listener.
