Ring the King
This is a most unusual recording. Done in a single take in 2006, this ensemble takes the listener through many musical styles with a bit of a twist: the main voice of the record is an electric kazoo. This is the first of bassist Nathan Fox's many unorthodox recordings. Cassius Goens III performs a mix of contemporary and traditional jazz drumming. In addition to Kazoo, Fox performs with 'altered string tunings,' producing wide-ranging tonalities with his fretless electric bass. Both artists were just shy of their 21st birthdays before this recording took place.
