One World Mandala
"Keary's CDs playing in the background during the yoga classes at my studio have proven time and time again to be ideal for setting a very relaxing atmosphere. I wouldn't be without them!" - Gail Leslie (owner of The Dancing Cat Yoga Centre, New Westminster BC). One World Mandala is the third CD in a series by Keary. This music has proven to be very effective as an accompaniment to almost any kind of healing and spiritual work, like yoga classes, body work, therapeutic dance/movement, and various kinds of deep relaxation and visualization practices. Artists have reported back that it creates an ideal environment for inspiration and focussed, relaxed concentration. The music's strongly evocative emotional and visual qualities also make it excellent for soundtracks. If you're interested in a greater level of detail about the music and about the spiritual journey and musical influences that have inspired this music, please go to my website and to the biographical descriptions accompanying my previous two CDs, The Secret Gate and The Open Path, at cdbaby. However, I will say again, perhaps in a slightly different way, that the genesis of this music can be found mainly in two 'sources'. The first is my lifelong spiritual practices in Buddhism and more recently in indigenous/shamanic ceremonies, particularly those of the Native American Church peyote prayer ceremonies. I've been deeply involved with the latter for about five years as of this writing and on the CDs you can hear bits of chant-like singing inspired by the prayer songs of the all-night tipi meetings The other source of inspiration, although it's not really different from the first, arose from my own deep listening experiences with recorded music. One group in particular, Dead Can Dance, who put out several CDs in the 1980s and 90s, had the ability to carry me off to heart- and mind-opening altered states. Their music introduced me to the possibilities of creating spacious yet still powerful music with great melodies and arrangements. I would put headphones on and give the music my full attention, (sometimes with the help of allies from the plant world). I wanted to create music that had that power, expressed in my own way of course, like maybe not quite as 'edgy' as Dead Can Dance for example. I wanted to create music to invite others into those spaces -places of beauty and mystery, uplifting and soothing at the same time, and with the possibility of bathing the listener in healing energies. I think that's why yoga teachers and artists like to use this music. So . . . please enjoy and make good use of the music on One World Mandala and my previous two CDs, The Secret Gate and The Open Path. It's my small contribution to a growing conspiracy whose agenda is to help the inhabitants of this gorgeous little planet heal and wake up to the true potential of who we are and what we're capable of creating here. And I say to you from my heart that the planet needs every one of us to add our energies and our prayers to this healing. It's an ancient prophecy known to the earth peoples all over the world . . . and it's time has come. Stephen Keary.
