Keith Buckman & Angela Ramsay Hailing from Hampton on the River Thames, Keith is a versatile musician who has composed, arranged and played guitar & bass in a number of acoustic, contemporary jazz and rock settings since the late seventies. Recent work includes collaborations with the Italian singer songwriter manuela, and notably RamsayGee and Glenn Hayler, who also co-wrote with Keith some of the songs for the album A Suburban Condition. Keith formed an acoustic duo with Angela in 2006 to co-write, arrange and perform a repertoire of song based on an open tuning he discovered in his college days, a number which appear on this album. Angela grew up in Johnstone, near Glasgow, and emigrated along with her parents to South Africa when she was in her late teens. Before returning to the UK in 1995, Angela worked for mission organizations such as Scripture Union and Youth for Christ where she toured extensively throughout South Africa as lead vocalist in an outreach band, making two solo appearances on South African television. In 2004, she co-founded with her husband, the producer & musician Mark Ramsay, a local community initiative for young musicians and performers called The Groove Academy, where Keith also works as a volunteer music tutor and arranger. Their debut album A Suburban Condition is a collection of original contemporary folk songs inspired by 21st century West London suburban living, which covers such themes as love, deception, nostalgia, faith, television super-heroes and a certain ill-at-easeness with the lifestyle. Their regular live acoustic duo is transformed by arrangements that employ a variety of vocal harmony and guitar styles, offering both flat-picked and fingerstyle acoustic guitar, open tunings, electric, slide, and bass guitars. A choice selection of guest musicians add drums, viola and a string quartet, offering a dynamic listening experience ranging from the intimate to the expansive.
