Nearness of You
Barbadian singer/songwriter Kellie Cadogan has been on the music scene for the past 10 years. She is also the Managing Director of her Music and Theatre business- East Point Productions. Her debut performance on the music scene came at the "Cool Jazz Series - "Discovery Segment" in May 2006 and the following year she was the headlining act for the final Cool Jazz Series in May 2007. Internationally, her accomplishments include being the 2007 scholarship winner of the Berklee College of Music five week summer performance programme in Boston. Regionally, she has been featured at the Virgin Gorda - St. Mary's Jazz Festival in the British Virgin Islands and at "An Evening of Jazz" with the band Euphoria at the Central Bank Auditorium, Trinidad. Locally, she has performed at the Waterfront Café and continues to do so at many other corporate, charity and jazz-oriented events. In March 2008 she performed as the "Kellie Cadogan Quartet" at the Holder's Season. Her most accomplished show to date was in August (2008), where she was the artistic director, co-producer, writer, director and featured performer in her Jazz and Musical showcase entitled, "An Evening with Kellie Cadogan" - held at the Frank Collymore Hall, Barbados. In January 2009 she launched her debut Jazz album- "The Nearness of You" at the Frank Collymore Hall. She was also the lead vocalist with the BCC Jazz Project at the Jazz on the Hill for 2009 Barbados Jazz Festival. Her most highly acclaimed performance came in March 2009 at The Sandy Lane Gold Cup, where she sang the local song "Beautiful Barbados" accompanied by The Royal Barbados Police Force Band. Kellie performs with the "Starlight Trio" at the Royal Pavilion Hotel, St. James, Barbados, every Saturday night from 8-11pm.
