Scottsmoor starts out with three songs that I wrote for each of my sons. They're my way of telling them how much I appreciate their unique personalities and gifts. The title song, Scottsmoor contains lyrics compiled from things those good ol' boys really do for fun. This album has more instrumentation on it than No Way Out for more of a rock and sometimes country feel. My songs are about people--a personal commentary on the impressions individuals have made on me. Many of the songs are about teenagers, who I see struggling to find an identity, and others who just want to enjoy life. I learned to play guitar so I could sing 'America' songs. My brothers and I had band rehearsals in the dining room, writing our own songs and singing in harmony. I like meeting people, learning new languages, and to travel light. My favorite thing is to sit around the dinner table with family and friends and talk. I could practically live on cookies and tea with honey, cheese, some fish...bread...and too much butter. It's great sharing this musical journey with my wife, Debbie (back to school after all these years), and our sons, Ryan (the Marine/ flutist), Andrew (the physicist/ pianist) and Griffin (the cellist/theology/ philosophy reader learning Spanish). I hope you enjoy listening to my songs as much as I enjoy writing them. Feel free to sing along in the car or wherever and come up with some new harmonies.
