Stirred & Shaken
'Whatever happened to the Swing revival? It's here. King Teddy stir it up, shake it up, and put the swing back where it belongs. A combination of '50s rockabilly, big band rock 'n' roll and jazz, you'd never accuse King Teddy of being cutting edge, but if you want to party, have some fun, and break a sweat on the dance floor, it's their CD you'll be reaching for. They finish up with a Beatles tune ("I Will"), but apart from that it's all their own work. If you get the chance, have a listen. Hopefully you'll be just as bowled over as I am.' --Simon M., Leicester Bangs online magazine Packed with 15 great songs, the album features bouncy swing numbers, rockabilly rave ups, smooth ballads and a few surprises. Quite a lot for one 'compact' disc, eh? Nothing too serious here (though love can be a pretty weighty topic), our aim is to produce fun, danceable, toe tap-able, sing along-able, what-is-that-song-that's-stuck-in-my head music. All but one is an original composition. We couldn't help ourselves, we just had to slip in a Beatles tune at the end. Vocalist Mike Sottong has been nominated for a 'Wammie' award the last five years by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). The band has also been nominated in the swing/big band category since 2004. In 2008 King Teddy was named Best of Fairfax for band/musician by the Fairfax [VA] Times.
