Kunkel & Harris
"... The genuine item - artists to the bone with chops and with heart." National Endowment of the Arts Fellow, Eliot Fintushel Kunkel and Harris are San Francisco Bay Area based folk/rock/Americana guitarists and singers. Both are songwriters, and accompany each other as they perform their original songs. They sing with strong vocal harmonies and their acoustic sound is complemented with traditional and contemporary instrumentation and arrangements. They are self-described as "Eaglely, Everly, Beatley, Browne" Bruce Kunkel and Rob Harris met in Sonoma California in the 1970's where their unique integration of songwriting styles and complementary vocal harmonies were immediately apparent. Their time honored collaboration of songwriting and performing also includes individual professional careers and families. Bruce Kunkel's musical career began as a performing artist and founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. His California acoustic style evolved through work with Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt and others. His unique slide guitar style was learned from Duane Allman. Rob Harris first performed as a vocalist on television at age 7 in Washington DC. His group BlueGrass by Default performed throughout the San Francisco Bay area in the 1980's and 1990's and his production work at Dolsun Studios has resulted in the Kunkel and Harris album. They're a great time live, and after recent notable showcase performances in the San Francisco Bay Area, Bruce and Rob have captured their vocal blend and songs in a unique CD: Kunkel and Harris.
